BOH attended the Homeless Here event hosted by Sno-Isle Libraries last night. The attendance was impressive!! It was wonderful to see the Snohomish community come together to ask questions and educate themselves on this crisis. Some there were personally affected, some concerned and some frightened.
They offered a panelists of resources including:
Kristen Cane with Housing Authority of Snohomish County
Elisa Hovard with Cocoon House
Mark Waldin with South Snohomish County E…mergency Cold Weather Shelter
Elizabeth Kohl with Housing Hope
Each shared the amazing work they do and their efforts to offer assistance and help. Among the attendees were two city council members. One applauded and acknowledged the impressive turnout but tried to impress upon everyone there, that the only way to get our voices heard, is to attend City Council meetings and talk to our state leaders! BOH will be making an attempt to be present at these and we urge you to do the same.
I was blown away by one specific stat that made me realize we have a lot of work to do! The population of homeless children in just Snohomish county is a staggering 3,788!!!
I was able to stand up and share the services that BOH offers, which was positively embraced by many! Numerous contacts were made, business cards exchanged and I see our services being utilized and highly sought out throughout the Snohomish County area!
Excited to serve those babies, children and families!
