Adopt-A-Family Project 

BOH is proud to announce we are hosting our 2nd annual Adopt-A-Family/or Child for Christmas project! We have LOTS of kiddos wish lists’, and need you!
These babies/toddlers and children are living in homeless encampments, in their cars/RV’s, shelters or transitional housing. You can help make a child/or family’s Christmas special this year!

FAQ’s for those who would like to contribute

  • How can I adopt a family?

Please email adoptafamilyboh@gmail.com and let us know that you’d like to adopt a family. We’ll get right back to you with some family size options (you are welcome to choose a small family with one child, or a larger family with several children). Once you decide on a family size to adopt, we’ll send you the family’s information including children’s names, clothing sizes, favorite color/characters, and their gift wish list.

  • Can I still help, even if I am unable to adopt a family?

Absolutely! We would love donations of grocery store gift cards so that families can purchase food for a holiday meal. Gas cards are also very appreciated for our families living in cars and RV’s. Another idea is to donate wrapping paper, bows, and gift tags.

  • What kind of gifts and how many gifts should I purchase?

Each child will have three gift wishes on their wish list. We request that sponsors fulfill each wish, if possible. The wishes could be toys, clothing, books, or any other special item, but each wish item should not be more than $50. Most of these children would not be receiving any gifts if not for the generosity of our wonderful sponsors!

  • Should I get gifts for the parent(s)?

The parent(s) would love a gift, but it is not required.

  • Should I include a grocery gift card to go towards a holiday meal?

Yes, please! We would like each family to receive at least $50 to a grocery store like Safeway, Fred Meyer, Albertons, or Walmart.

  • Do I need to wrap the gifts?

We would greatly appreciate all gifts to be wrapped. Please include a removable label with the family ID, child’s name and what gift is inside, so that we can keep track. If you don’t wrap your gifts, please consider including a roll of festive holiday wrapping paper and some bows/ribbon so that the Babies of Homelessness volunteers can get the gifts looking perfect for the recipients!

  • When are gifts due to Babies of Homelessness?

All gifts must be received by Friday, December 15th.

  • Where do I deliver gifts?

  • What happens if I realize I am unable to participate after being matched with a family?

Let us know as soon as possible so that we can find another sponsor for the family. Our goal is to match every Babies of Homelessness family with a sponsor and ample time is needed to coordinate.

 

FAQ’s for families seeking help

  • How can I register and submit a wish list?

Email us at adoptafamilyboh@gmail.com and we’ll respond with a request for some specific information about your family and children. Wish lists are due by November 30th. We will let you know when you’ve been matched with a sponsor.

  • Will we receive everything on our wish list?

We ask each sponsor to fulfill all 3 wishes on each child’s wish list, and we do our very best to ensure this.

  • When will I receive the gifts?

We will coordinate a time to deliver the gifts to you between December 15th-23rd.

  • Will the gifts arrived wrapped?

Yes, all gifts will be wrapped and labeled with the child’s name.

Baby Shower Event

This will be a fundraiser and donation drive benefiting newborns born to homeless Moms.

The objective is to have starter-diaper bags/kits/baby boxes filled with newborn essentials to give Moms when they leave the hospital.

Often times Mary’s Place is called requesting to shelter this new mom and newborn; which is why we are partnering with them specifically to ensure they have these essentials to offer.

We would love to see you Sunday the 26th during the baby shower! We will be welcoming current pregnant Mommies who will be just a small fraction of the recipients of your generous donations.

You can donate items directly off the BOH gift registries via Amazon and Babies R Us anytime throughout the month of March.

Kidz FUN Zone- Valentines Cookie Decorating

This is an ongoing monthly event held for children currently living in the emergency shelter.
Every month we will have a theme ranging from making crafts, decorating cookies, pajama party, movie night, karaoke party, etc.
Anything to take their mind off their current situation, stresses, fears and uncertainty.
Where Mom can take a break and the children can act and feel like kids!

Want to help?
We can use up to 10 volunteers (all ages) to help with:
* event set up (5:30)
* interacting with the kids while assisting with the project
* clean up and tear down

Donations needed for this event:
Sugar cookies
Juice boxes
Frosting
Decorating candies (sprinkles, jelly beans, etc.)
Popsicle sticks
Toothpicks

Baby/Toddler Donation Drop-off Event

WHERE: 19200 Hollyhills Dr. NE Bothell (off the 195th & Beardslee exit up the hill from YMCA and Seattle Times)

WHEN: Saturday January 14th 10am – 1pm

WHAT: Accepting donations, Sorting clothing/diapers, Packing “care packages”

WHO: All ages are welcome

Acccepting donations for babies and small children who are found in homeless encampments, living on the streets, in their cars or RVs, or emergency shelters!
Acceptable donations include:

Baby Food (not expired, pouches preferred)
Baby Cereal, formula (not expired)
Baby snacks (teething wafers, puffs)
Baby essentials (shampoo, diaper cream, pacifiers, bottles, diaper bags, etc)
Clothing 0-10yrs
Blankets
Coats
Shoes, boots
Toddler-friendly snacks (individually bagged like Goldfish, applesauce pouches, Pirate Booty, fruit snacks)
Diapers/PullUps
Small toys/stuffed animals
Pack-n-play
Crib/toddler bed linens

Gallon size zip-lock bags

Anything and everything baby! As long as it’s fairly small and transportable.

Please in sure food is not expired and clothing, coats, linens are “gently” used, if not new.
